Just as our rec leagues prepare to take the field for the first time this weekend, our recreational travel teams – involving players who participate in our league but are eager for a chance to play even more baseball and softball – are getting ready for the season, too. Twoi important activities are scheduled this week.
A special pre-tryout meeting for all parents who are interested in their child trying out for one of OYO’s rec travel baseball or softball teams will take place this Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at Sterrett Center (8950 Otis Avenue).
While this meeting is particularly for families of players who have played Red Storm or Bombers before, all eligible families are welcome. We will provide an overview of our rec travel program, introduce the coaches, and cover key topics related to the travel experience.
Rec Travel Baseball and Softball are almost underway. This weekend, the Bombers (travel baseball) will conduct their tryouts at OYO (Veterans Memorial Park). The schedule is as follows:

Players should arrive 15 minutes early, and are strongly encouraged to attend both tryout dates. Players should bring their glove, helmet and bat. Also no past Bomber or other travel team uniforms, hats etc. shall be worn to or during the tryouts.

With three of the four age groups still finalizing travel team coach assignments in softball, tryouts have been scheduled for mid-April after Spring Break. Details will follow in the weeks ahead. Below is a summary of the age groups available.
