Bill Sturm Memorial

Oaklandon Youth Organization hosts its annual Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament every summer over Independence Day.  This tournament is open to all rec travel baseball and softball teams.  Full-time travel teams are not eligible.

In 2010 alone, we had nearly 70 teams participate in our five-day tournament.  This tournament combines pool play and elimination games.  Game minimums and fees vary by age group and sport (baseball/softball).

Founded in 1996, the Bill Sturm Memorial Tournament was started in memory of one of our founders.  Bill Sturm long believed all children should be able to play youth baseball or softball regardless of their financial status.  The league lost our leader suddenly to a heart attack, but his dream and spirit live on through this tournament.  A portion of the proceeds from this tournament fund our general scholarship program that allows more than 50 children to play baseball or softball at OYO every year.

The 2011 tournament is set for July 4-8, 2012.  For more details about the softball and baseball tournament offerings, select the document of interest to your team:
