Softball Rules
Beginning Spring 2012, all softball leagues will follow the rules established by National Federation of State High Schools Associations (NFHS). However, there are a variety of “house” rules that apply to each league at OYO. Please refer to attached rules document which contains both Spring and Fall Ball rules in a single document.

The house rules remain very similar to 2011 rules except for the following changes:
- 14U Softball – Pitching distance is 43 feet.
- 10U and 12U Softball – Base runners may steal home.
- 8U, 10U, and 12U – For all recreational league teams during the regular season, all players must play at least one (1) inning in the infield and one (1) inning in the outfield during the same game. This requirement is excepted for tournament play. This rule does not apply for 14U Softball.
