OYO's Fall Ball registration extended through Aug. 14

For those athletes interested in playing baseball this fall, registration for OYO's Fall Ball for baseball and softball will now be open through August 14. Leagues will be available for rookie, minor, and super major baseball, as well as 10U and 12U softball. For more information, click here.

Full-time travel tryouts for 2009 Bombers to be Aug. 16-17

Baseball players interested in trying out for the 2009 Bombers full-time travel baseball teams must attend tryouts from 4-6 p.m. on Aug. 16-17 at Veteran's Memorial Park.

These tryouts are open to all athletes ages 9-12 for the 2009 season. Whatever your age as of April 30, 2009, you'll be trying out for that age group. Nine year olds will conduct tryouts on field 1, 10 year olds will be on field 4, 11 year olds will be on field 3, and 12 year olds will be on field 2.

Congratulations to Oaklandon teams...

Several Oaklandon teams have performed well in post-season activities. Congratulations to:

• 14-year-old Babe Ruth Oaklandon All-Star team, who were the district champions and advanced to semi-state action;
• 11-year-old full-time travel Bombers as the Muncie BPA World Series Qualifier runners up;
• 7-year-old rec travel Bombers, who recently won the Beech Grove Invitational Tournament.

Adult co-ed softball registration open

Fall Co-Ed Adult Softball is getting underway for 2008! Teams will play on Thursday nights starting August 28.  

You can sign up as an individual ($45 or $80 for a couple) and be assigned to a team. You can sign up as a full team and the cost for that is $300.

This is a very informal league comprised of people who are really just trying to get out and have fun.  Games are played at the OYO fields at Veterans Memorial Park on  Pendleton Pike.  There are no umpires.

Congratulations to Manlove Tourney champions

Twenty-six teams participated in the annual Manlove Tournament at OYO on June 1. Proceeds from the event are donated to The 24 Group, a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering education, advocacy and recovery support to those affected by the disease of addiction in adolescents and young adults. Money raised at today's tournament will be used to help fund educational programs and treatment for adolescents and young adults who cannot afford it.
