Head Coach Applications

Being a head coach at OYO is one of the most rewarding and memorable volunteer opportunities we offer!  As a result, we’re seeking coaches for all baseball and softball teams from tee ball thru Babe Ruth and 14U softball.  Regardless of past coaching assignments at OYO, if you’re interested in coaching in 2012, please download and complete coach’s application.

Only head coach applicants need to submit an application – and must do so before this Friday, February 24!

Concession Stand Management (and Staff) Applications

OYO is seeking applicants for all positions in the concession stand for our upcoming seasons.  If you have a passion for youth baseball and softball, enjoy being at the ballpark, and want to earn some extra income, then the OYO Concession Stand is the place to be in 2012!

We are seeking applicants for Concessions Manager, Concessions Assistant Manager, and Concessions Staff.  All manager/assistant manager applications must be postmarked/emailed by this Friday, February 24, 2012.  

If you’re interested in serving as a paid concessions manager or assistant manager in 2012, visit the Concessions section on our website for job descriptions and application process.  All interested parties must apply and complete background check form regardless of past experience in the OYO Concession Stand.

For all individuals ages 13 and older, if you’re interested in being a paid concessions staff member, then please complete the appropriate non-management application.

To make these teams possible, we need coaches!  The age groups still in need of rec travel coaches are:

• Bombers (baseball):  7U, 8U, and 9U
• Red Storm (softball): 8U, 10U, and 14U

With more than 30 sponsors secured, we’re still seeking 50 additional sponsors for our 2012 spring season.   In 2012, we welcome companies interested in renewing their sponsorship or sponsoring for the first time.  Last year, we took our appreciation efforts to brand new heights.  We turned sponsorship opportunities of all levels into a widespread marketing opportunities for the companies around our park and throughout the OYO website.

Coaches Orientation and Player Ranking Review - Tuesday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at Jenn Park

While all head coaches are expected to participate, all assistant coaches are encouraged to attend and participate in our annual Coaches’ Orientation and Player Selection/Ranking as well.  Head coaches will be notified by March 2. 

Please note, this meeting is  specifically for our younger leagues (tee-ball thru super major/12U softball).   Challenger, Babe Ruth and 14U softball coaches need not attend this specific meeting. 

The session will include a brief orientation covering important topics, including The OYO Way, baseball and softball operations, scheduling, field maintenance, travel program opportunities and umpires.  Immediately following the orientation, league commissioners will conduct specific coaches meetings, where they will cover key rules and begin the team development process. 

If you are a baseball head/assistant coach who cannot attend, please notify Greg Champion.  If you are a softball head/assistant coach, please notify Roger Nesbitt.

New Family Orientation – Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. at Jenn Park

Every season, OYO welcomes a new slate of families into the OYO Family.  And 2012 is no exception as we already have more than 200 new players joining our Spring program.

To help make this transition smoother for the parents and ballplayers, we will host our annual New Families Orientation.  We’ll provide insights about important topics ranging from field locations and assignments to schedule formats; from The OYO Way to ways to get involved; and from rec league details to travel opportunities.  We’ll share what we know and field your questions, too.  If this is your first time at OYO, then this is the place to be on March 7.

Friday — Chili Dinner Supports LN Baseball Program

The Lawrence North Baseball program is hosting its annual Chili Dinner at Lawrence North on Friday, February 24 from 5-7 p.m. Cost is $5 and tickets can be purchased at the door. All proceeds go to LN Baseball. During the dinner, there will also be a raffle for two court side Pacer tickets with parking.

Saturday — 12U FTT Red Storm Fundraiser could lead you to your next great find!

The OYO 12U Full-Time Travel Red Storm Team will be hosting a Yard Sale at the Lawrence Community Center (5301 North Franklin Road) on Saturday, February 25 from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m.  All proceeds will benefit the 2012 12U Red Storm team.

The Yard Sale will offer furniture, electronics, clothing of all sizes and lots more. Come out and get some great deals on some great items, all while supporting the 12U Red Storm Full Time Travel team!

So although OYO offers one of the latest early registration deadlines in Central Indiana to better serve our families, our season’s planning and team development efforts are in full swing.  As a result, we need to begin making final preparations on number of teams, schedules, uniforms and more. 

Don’t delay!  Register today!  And by doing so, you will secure your ballplayer’s spot in our 2012 season and have a chance to win back part of your player’s registration fee.
