Baseball Rules
All baseball leagues will follow the rules established by Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth. However, there are a variety of “house” rules that apply to each league at OYO. Please refer to attached rules document which contains both Spring and Fall Ball rules in a single document.
The house rules remain very similar to 2011 rules except for the following changes:
- Minor - The field shall be laid out according to the instructions for the Cal Ripken Division (Diagram 4 and 5) with the following exceptions: The infield shall be a 65-foot square.
- Babe Ruth, Super Major, Minor, and Rookie – Teams may substitute runner for the catcher only when there are two outs. The substitute runner must be the last batted out.
- Junior Rookie – Regular Season: Each player shall receive a limit of four (4) pitches per at bat. After the fourth pitch, the batter shall have two (2) swings from the tee. Tournament: In the fifth inning and all subsequent innings, each player shall receive a limit of five (5) pitches or three (3) strikes per at bat and no use of tee is allowed. If player hits a ball foul on a fifth or subsequent pitch, an additional pitch is permitted.
