Bomber 10s, 11s Hitting Clinic, ProBatter Line Drive Derby to be March 14

There's still time to get involved in the 11U Bombers travel team! If you are interested in giving your batting skills a competitive edge and learning more about our recreational-travel program, please come to our FREE clinic followed by a Line Drive Derby Competition. This clinic will be conducted by the 11U Bomber coaches in the Sandlot's state-of-the-art ProBatter lane. This clinic is not a tryout. Upcoming tryouts for Bomber 11s will be conducted at OYO on Sunday, March 21, noon-2 p.m., Field #3.

OYO to conduct umpire instructional clinic on March 21

An instructional clinic open to all umpires will be conducted 2-5 p.m. March 21 on Field 10. Contact Kevin Jobe at 538-8430 for more info. This clinic is separate from the two mandatory rules clinics.

Rec Bombers Tryouts to be March 14 for 12s, March 21 for 11s

Dates, times and locations for the final Bomber tryouts are listed below. Players will be evaluated by independent evaluators on their fielding, throwing, base running, and hitting skills among other attributes.

Umpires: Exam deadline to be March 28
All adults and youths (age 11 or older) should consider umpiring at OYO. We offer the only youth umpire programs in the area, and we train adults to umpire as well. If you're interested, please complete this 2010 umpire application and email it to Kristin Curts curts74@comcast.net .

Spring registration remains open

In approximately one week, the baseball and softball leagues for ages 12 and younger will be finalizing the number of teams we'll offer in each league. At that time, some leagues may be closed due to maximum registrations. Pass this information along to friends, classmates and neighbors. For a player to ensure his/her place on an OYO team (in leagues 12 and under), please register before Feb. 25.

Coaches: Schedule for team selection/coaches meeting, clinics
During the next week, all leagues will be selecting their head coaches. Those coaches will be notified by Feb. 25. However, there are a couple important meetings coming up in which all parents who requested to be a head coach or assistant coach should attend. A separate email was sent directly to all coaches on this topic, but below is the schedule for the Team Selection/Coaches Meetings between Feb. 26-March 1 and the Coaches Clinics on March 6.

With the team selection meetings happening next weekend, we'll release final rosters to all head coaches during the weekend of March 6. Coaches will be encouraged to contact their teams quickly so look for a call or email in contact shortly after that date. And as far-fetched at it may sound with the snow all on the ground, practices are slated to begin Saturday, March 13. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
