2010 Rec Bombers Tryouts to be March 7, 14
OYO is proud to once again offer travel baseball opportunities to our OYO spring league players. The Oaklandon Bombers are age-based teams which practice and play Showcase games on Sundays throughout the OYO rec season and participate in 4 to 5 nearby summer tournaments. Open to all registered OYO Spring 2010 rec league players. Players are highly encouraged to attend the tryouts on both days. Teams are designated by the player's age on April 30.
The first tryout date will be held indoors at Smith's Bullpen in Fortville. Players should wear appropriate baseball apparel and come prepared to participate in baseball drills. Due to the concrete floor at Smith's Bullpen, players should wear rubber-soled athletic shoes, NO cleats please.

- Location: Smith's Bullpen, 588 W 850 North, Fortville
- Tryout times per age group:
- 7s – 1-2 pm
- 8s – 2-3:30 pm
- 9s & 10s – 3:30-5 pm
- 11s – 5-6:30 pm
- 12s – 6:30-8 pm

Umpires: Rules clinic to be March 7; Exams online
All adults and youths (age 11 or older) should consider umpiring at OYO. We offer the only youth umpire programs in the area, and we train adults to umpire as well. If you're interested, please complete this 2010 umpire application and email it to Kristin Curts curts74@comcast.net .

Spring registration remains open
In approximately one week, the baseball and softball leagues for ages 12 and younger will be finalizing the number of teams we'll offer in each league. At that time, some leagues may be closed due to maximum registrations. Pass this information along to friends, classmates and neighbors. For a player to ensure his/her place on an OYO team (in leagues 12 and under), please register before Feb. 25.

Coaches: Schedule for team selection/coaches meeting, clinics
During the next week, all leagues will be selecting their head coaches. Those coaches will be notified by Feb. 25. However, there are a couple important meetings coming up in which all parents who requested to be a head coach or assistant coach should attend. A separate email was sent directly to all coaches on this topic, but below is the schedule for the Team Selection/Coaches Meetings between Feb. 26-March 1 and the Coaches Clinics on March 6.

- Junior Rookie: Saturday, Feb. 27 from Noon-2 p.m. at Gramboli's Pizza
- Rookie: Sunday, Feb. 28 from 6:30-9 p.m. at Sports of All Sorts
- Minor: Saturday, Feb. 27 from 5-8 p.m. at Sports of All Sorts
- Super Major: Monday, March 1 from 6-9 p.m. at Sports of All Sorts
- 8U Softball: Friday, Feb. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Geist Community Church
- 10U Softball: Saturday, Feb. 27 from 9-11 a.m. at Geist Community Church
- 12U Softball: Saturday, Feb. 27 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Geist Community Church

With the team selection meetings happening next weekend, we'll release final rosters to all head coaches during the weekend of March 6. Coaches will be encouraged to contact their teams quickly so look for a call or email in contact shortly after that date.
